ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather advisory ahead of the Eid holidays, warning travelers and tourists to remain cautious due to the likelihood of rain, strong winds, and possible hailstorms in northern and mountainous regions.
According to the forecast, a weather system is expected to affect parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northern Punjab from June 3 to 5, with potential risks to fragile infrastructure in areas like Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan, Murree, and Kashmir. Isolated hailstorms may also occur in some regions.
The PMD reports that rain accompanied by gusty winds is likely in Islamabad and surrounding areas, including upper and central Punjab, on June 3 and 4. Strong winds and scattered showers could begin as early as this evening in northern parts of the country.
Despite the rain forecast in the north, much of Pakistan’s plains will continue to experience intense heat during the holiday period. The PMD has advised the public and travelers to stay informed through official weather updates and to take all necessary precautions, especially when visiting hilly areas.
