The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast unsettled weather across several northern regions of the country over the next 24 hours, including the possibility of thunderstorms, rain, and hail.
According to the latest advisory issued on Saturday, areas expected to be affected include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The weather in these regions is likely to remain partly cloudy, with sporadic thunderstorms and rainfall anticipated in various localities. Some areas may also experience hailstorms, especially in elevated regions.
The Met Office has also cautioned residents about the risk posed by strong winds accompanying the storm systems. These gusts may pose a threat to weak infrastructure and rooftop solar panels. Homeowners with solar installations are advised to secure their equipment to prevent damage. Authorities have urged citizens to stay indoors during high wind events and avoid any unnecessary travel until conditions stabilize.
In sharp contrast, southern regions of the country will continue to experience hot and dry weather. High temperatures are expected to persist in Sindh and Balochistan, where heatwave-like conditions may cause discomfort, especially during peak afternoon hours. In major urban centers, Lahore and Karachi are likely to see daytime temperatures rise to around 40 degrees Celsius.
The PMD has stressed the importance of taking precautionary measures in response to both the stormy and hot weather patterns. Residents in the north should remain alert to possible flash flooding in hilly areas and watch for falling branches or debris during strong winds. Meanwhile, those in the south are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day.
As the changing weather pattern unfolds, the PMD continues to monitor developments and will issue updates as needed to ensure public safety. Citizens are encouraged to follow official forecasts and advisories.
