Karachi is set to experience a sharp drop in temperatures as cold winds from Quetta sweep into the city, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced. Residents should brace for a noticeable chill over the next 24 hours.
Karachi to See Nighttime Temperatures Fall
According to the PMD, nighttime temperatures in Karachi are expected to fall between 13ยฐC and 15ยฐC, creating unusually cool conditions for the coastal city. The Met Office attributed the drop to cold continental winds from Quetta, which are moving southward and bringing a winter bite to the southern regions.
A dominant continental air mass is influencing much of Pakistan, reinforcing the onset of a stronger winter spell. The department warned that the cold wave is likely to continue, affecting both daytime and nighttime temperatures across the country.
Cold and Foggy Conditions Across Pakistan
The PMD forecast cold and dry weather nationwide for tomorrow. Elevated regions will experience particularly harsh temperatures, while fog is expected to thicken over Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plains, potentially reducing visibility during early-morning and late-night travel hours.
Northern parts of Pakistan are likely to see further temperature declines over the coming days, with mountainous areas experiencing frigid conditions. Low-lying districts in Punjab and KP have already reported smog and intermittent fog, impacting air quality and overall visibility.
As winter intensifies, authorities have urged travelers and residents to exercise caution, particularly during foggy hours, while preparing for the continued cold spell affecting large parts of the country.
