Film’s massive success, especially in the domestic market, has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Pushpa 2: The Rule, the eagerly awaited sequel to Pushpa: The Rise, has shattered records at the global box office, grossing an astounding Rs 1,760 crore in total earnings.
Starring Allu Arjun in the lead role, alongside Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the film continues to dominate, even as it enters its fourth week of release. Despite a slight dip in earnings on its fourth Monday (December 30), with early estimates suggesting Rs 6.65 crore in collections on day 26, the film’s overall performance remains strong. Its cumulative total across all languages has now crossed Rs 1,163.65 crore.
A Record-Breaking Performance
Pushpa 2’s success has been remarkable, particularly in the domestic market. The film has broken several records previously held by major blockbusters, including Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. It has not only set a new benchmark for Telugu cinema but has also gained significant traction in Hindi-speaking regions, with its Hindi version grossing Rs 758.65 crore, far surpassing the Telugu version, which has earned Rs 326.31 crore.
Beyond Telugu and Hindi, the film has performed impressively in other regional languages as well. The Tamil version has grossed Rs 56.95 crore, while the Malayalam and Kannada versions have brought in Rs 14.12 crore and Rs 7.62 crore, respectively. This widespread success across multiple languages highlights the film’s pan-India appeal.
Sustaining Success Amid Competition
Even with the emergence of new releases like Baby John and Mufasa: The Lion King, Pushpa 2 has continued to maintain a dominant position at the box office. The film’s popularity can be attributed to its engaging storyline, high-energy action sequences, and outstanding performances, particularly Allu Arjun’s portrayal of the titular character.
The production house, Mythri Movie Makers, took to social media to celebrate this milestone, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming fan support. With its worldwide earnings now comfortably challenging Baahubali 2’s record, the film is poised for even more success. With the New Year’s break approaching, there is anticipation that Pushpa 2 will see another spike in collections before it faces increased competition from fresh releases in 2024.
A Landmark Achievement
Pushpa 2 has firmly established itself as one of the top-grossing films of 2024, further solidifying the global recognition of Indian cinema. The film’s success is not just a reflection of Allu Arjun’s stardom, but also of the appeal of strong narratives and well-executed filmmaking that resonate deeply with audiences across India and beyond.
