In a significant move, CM Maryam Nawaz directed that 10,000 tractors be provided to farmers at subsidized rates by February 28, alongside the distribution of 2,000 super seeders by March.
A high-level performance review meeting, chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, was held to assess the progress of various ministries and departments over the past six months, particularly in agriculture, energy, and industry.
Officials presented updates on the ongoing projects initiated by the Chief Minister. Among the key decisions made, the government committed to accelerating the rollout of free solar energy for Punjab residents, with a goal to complete the transition of government buildings to solar power and finalize the renewable energy project by June.
In addition, a comprehensive program aimed at reviving and enhancing the citrus fruit industry, including oranges and kinnows, was announced. The government also finalized plans to establish state-of-the-art agricultural markets across Punjab to support farmers in increasing production and boosting exports. To further this agenda, an additional Rs 6 billion was allocated for solar energy initiatives.
A waste-to-energy fund is to be established by March, and the transition of key institutions, such as the Punjab Assembly and the Institute of Cardiology, to solar energy will be expedited.
CM Maryam has also set a deadline of March for the completion of the “Garments Cities” project in the province, aimed at boosting industrial growth.
Speaking about her vision, CM Maryam remarked, “Modern technology-led development in agriculture, energy, and industry is my priority. The dream of an agricultural and industrial revolution in Punjab is rapidly becoming a reality.”
