The Punjab Education Department has introduced a new weekly schedule for schools across the province. All public and private institutions will now remain closed on Fridays. This decision applies to every school operating under the provincial education system.
Officials confirmed that classes will be held from Monday to Thursday only. The updated schedule aims to manage resources and adjust to recent national challenges. A formal notification has been issued to ensure uniform implementation across Punjab.
New School Timings Announced for Punjab
Under the revised plan, schools will operate from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm between Monday and Thursday. These timings apply to most single-shift institutions across the province. Authorities want schools to maintain discipline and follow the new schedule strictly.
For double-shift schools, separate timings have been assigned. The first shift will run from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm. The second shift will begin at 1:00 pm and continue until 5:30 pm. This arrangement is designed to manage student flow efficiently.
Education officials believe that shorter school weeks will help reduce operational strain. At the same time, they expect students to stay focused during limited classroom hours.
Schools Reopen After Extended Closure
Schools in Punjab reopened on April 1 after remaining closed for 22 days. The closure lasted from March 10 to March 31. During this period, institutions shifted to online learning systems.
Examinations, however, continued as planned. Students appeared in exams according to their original schedules. Teachers also stayed engaged through virtual classes to ensure continuity in education.
The closure was part of a broader strategy by the federal government. It aimed to conserve fuel amid rising global oil prices. The increase in fuel costs was linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Authorities believe that temporary closures helped reduce energy consumption. Now, with schools reopening, a revised weekly plan has been introduced.
Sindh ู ุฏุงุฑุณ Resume Classes with Different Weekend Policy
In Sindh, educational institutions have also resumed physical classes from April 1. The provincial government made the announcement a day earlier. Officials confirmed that online classes have now been replaced with in-person teaching.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon shared the update during a press conference in Karachi. He stated that all schools, colleges, and universities are now fully operational.
Meanwhile, Sindh Education Minister Sardar Ali Shah confirmed the start of the new academic year. He also announced that institutions will observe a two-day weekend on Saturday and Sunday.
He encouraged students and teachers to take full advantage of classroom learning. According to him, physical classes offer better engagement and understanding compared to online education.
ู ุชูุงูุช Policies Highlight Provincial Differences
The contrasting decisions in Punjab and Sindh highlight different administrative approaches. Punjab has opted for a Friday holiday, while Sindh continues with a traditional weekend.
These changes reflect regional priorities and planning strategies. Both provinces aim to balance education quality with practical challenges.
Students and parents are advised to stay updated with official notifications. Schools are expected to strictly follow the new schedules without exception.
