LAHORE: The Punjab government has offered cash reward for individuals who will expose illegal Afghan residents in the province. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that the citizens who share credible information about Afghans living unlawfully in the province will get cash reward.
Minister said the provincial government continues its ongoing crackdown against undocumented foreign nationals with full administrative support. The announcement aims to encourage public cooperation as the campaign enters a more aggressive phase.
Citizens Assisting Through Whistleblower Mechanism
Azma Bokhari confirmed that many citizens have already provided useful information under the Whistleblower Act. She stressed that the authorities will maintain complete confidentiality of individuals who share intelligence. She noted that the government values public assistance, which has strengthened the operation’s effectiveness. Moreover, officials have increased monitoring in districts where undocumented migration remains high.
Thousands of Illegal Afghan Residents Repatriated
The minister said the authorities had repatriated 6,220 Afghans living illegally in Punjab during the last three weeks. She added that teams continue verification across major urban and rural areas. She also stated that law enforcement agencies remain active in identifying individuals without valid documents. As a result, the pace of repatriation has increased steadily.
Government Ensures Strict Compliance With Policy
Azma Bokhari said the campaign aligns with federal directives on undocumented foreign nationals. She reaffirmed that the government intends to complete the exercise in a systematic manner. Furthermore, she said coordination between departments has improved during the ongoing operation. She also highlighted that the campaign focuses on law compliance rather than intimidation.
Public Cooperation Encouraged for Smooth Execution
The minister urged citizens to report illegal residents to designated authorities. She emphasised that timely reporting helps maintain security and order. She further said the cash reward scheme aims to recognise responsible civic behaviour. According to her, the operation continues to progress successfully with growing public support.
