Outstanding students from public colleges across Sindh who secured top positions in the intermediate examinations were honored with electric bikes in a first-of-its-kind initiative.
The award distribution ceremony took place at the Sindh Scouts Auditorium in Karachi and was attended by education officials, teachers, parents, and students, marking a memorable day for the young achievers.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary of Universities and Boards Abbas Baloch expressed his satisfaction over the increasing transparency in the examination system. He highlighted that for the past two years, no inquiries had been raised regarding intermediate results, signaling a significant improvement in the credibility and efficiency of the boards.
“For the first time in many years, board positions have been officially acknowledged without controversy,” he said. He also noted that nearly all boards announced results prior to the MDCAT examinations this year, ensuring that deserving students were recognized promptly.
Baloch further announced that merit scholarships would now be awarded to students who secure top positions, correcting the past neglect where high performers were not given due recognition.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to conducting examinations with fairness and transparency, alongside efforts to continuously improve the standard of assessment in Sindh.
Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), Faqeer Muhammad Lakho, also spoke at the event, emphasizing that the distribution of electric bikes was part of the prime minister’s broader initiative to encourage and support youth.
He described the provision of modern facilities to students as a shared responsibility of the government and education boards, aimed at easing mobility and enabling greater focus on academic and professional growth.
Lakho concluded by announcing that the initiative would be extended annually until 2030, ensuring that merit continues to be rewarded and that future students remain motivated to achieve excellence in their studies.
