Modern Vehicles to Enhance Security in High-Risk Districts
The Punjab government has released Rs2 billion to the Counter Terrorism Department (CCD) for the purchase of modern vehicles and the development of new offices and police stations across the province. The funding is part of a broader initiative to strengthen anti-terror operations in Punjab’s sensitive areas.
According to official sources, the first phase of funding will be used to acquire bulletproof vehicles, double-cabin pickups, armored carriers, and high-roof vans. These will be deployed in high-risk districts to enhance mobility and response time during counterterrorism operations.
Officials added that in the second phase, similar vehicles will be distributed across “B category” districts, depending on operational needs. Additional budget allocations are expected in the coming months to expand the project further.
Survey Begins for CCD Offices and Police Stations
In addition to vehicle procurement, a comprehensive survey has begun to identify locations for new CCD offices and police stations. Reports are currently being prepared for major urban centers including Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Multan.
The CCD has officially requested the construction of 40 offices, 38 police stations, and 6 residential buildings to support personnel in the field. Police sources estimate the total cost of construction could reach Rs11 billion.
This infrastructure expansion is aimed at improving coordination, surveillance, and rapid deployment across Punjab, especially in regions identified as security-sensitive due to recent upticks in militant activity.
The move comes amid growing efforts by the provincial government to modernize the CCD and enhance its ability to detect and respond to threats effectively.
