The Punjab government has finalized a large-scale plan to purchase new luxury vehicles for ministers, bureaucrats, and VIP officials during the current fiscal year. Officials confirmed that the government will acquire 108 vehicles at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.14 billion. The Transport Wing has already submitted detailed recommendations for cabinet approval, signaling that authorities intend to move quickly once they secure the final green light.
Cabinet fleet expansion moves forward
According to official documents, the government has proposed 28 new vehicles for the Punjab Cabinet at a projected cost of Rs. 300 million. The proposed fleet includes one Land Cruiser, two Haval 1.5 vehicles, five Grand Altis cars, 10 Toyota Altis vehicles, and 10 Toyota Yaris cars. Meanwhile, authorities have already approved the purchase of two bulletproof four-by-four vehicles worth Rs. 40 million for two ministers, highlighting the administration’s focus on security alongside comfort.
Security and inspection units receive major allocation
In addition, the government has approved recommendations for 25 vehicles dedicated to VIP security operations, with an estimated budget of Rs. 270 million. Furthermore, officials have earmarked vehicles worth Rs. 530 million for the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team. This allocation includes 30 double-cabin vehicles, 11 Toyota Yaris cars, three Toyota Altis vehicles, Suzuki Cultus cars, and several motorcycles.
Officials stated that once the cabinet grants final approval, the procurement process will begin without delay. As a result, departments expect the new fleet to enhance official mobility and operational efficiency across the province in the coming months.
