Classes to run from 8:45am to 1:30pm across the province to protect students’ health.
LAHORE: The Punjab government has announced revised school timings in response to the worsening smog affecting the province. The change aims to safeguard students while ensuring continued learning during hazardous air conditions.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the update on his X account on Sunday, stating that the decision was made after carefully assessing the current smog situation.
New Timings for Schools
Starting Monday, all schools across Punjab will conduct classes from 8:45am to 1:30pm. The adjustment allows students to attend school during safer hours when air quality levels are relatively better.
Minister Hayat emphasized that the revised schedule is a precautionary measure, reflecting the government’s commitment to student health and safety amid the province-wide air pollution crisis.
Focus on Student Well-being
Authorities have urged parents and school administrations to remain vigilant and take all necessary precautions to minimize exposure to smog. The government continues to monitor air quality and may introduce further measures if pollution levels remain high.
The move comes as Punjab faces intensifying smog, which has already affected daily life, prompting warnings for vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly.
