In a case involving the alleged torture of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azadi march participants on May 25, the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday demanded a reply from the federal and Punjab governments.
The Judicial Activism Panel’s plea was considered by Justice Anwarul Haq of the LHC. Following the initial hearing on the appeal, the bench asked the interior secretary, Punjab home secretary, and IG for responses.
On May 25, during the Azadi March, PTI workers allegedly suffered torture at the hands of officers acting under orders from the former Punjab government.
The plea said that during the long march on May 25, several PTI workers and supporters were hurt and arrested.
The court postponed the hearing to October 20 and ordered the interior secretary, Punjab home secretary, and IG to submit their responses to the plea.
