The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated a major crackdown on Indian-operated bots and fake social media accounts accused of orchestrating anti-Pakistan campaigns amid rising tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
Sources indicate that Pakistani regulatory bodies have flagged dozens of suspicious accounts actively engaged in spreading hostile narratives. In response, the PTA has begun 24-hour monitoring across major platforms to identify and neutralize disinformation threats.
“So far, 46 suspicious URLs have been flagged and reported to relevant social media platforms for removal,” a PTA official stated. The authority stressed that tackling coordinated digital misinformation requires sustained oversight and real-time action.
According to officials, all relevant Pakistani institutions, including the PTA, are working together to dismantle what appears to be a systematic effort to manipulate public perception and incite unrest. Accounts found participating in these campaigns will be swiftly reported for further action.
When questioned about the targeted accounts, authorities explained that many of them were clearly operating as part of an organized effort to disseminate false or inflammatory content following recent cross-border diplomatic frictions.
The PTA has urged the public to be cautious of misleading online content and encouraged users to report suspicious posts or profiles to the appropriate authorities for investigation.
