Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet Chinese Premier Li Qiang today to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China.
The meeting will provide both leaders an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international developments, emphasizing the importance of deepening strategic, economic, and diplomatic ties between the two countries. This high-level engagement is part of the prime minister’s ongoing six-day visit to China, aimed at consolidating Pakistan’s relationship with one of its key partners.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also hold discussions with Chinese Minister for Information Technology and Industry, Li Lecheng.
These meetings are expected to focus on enhancing collaboration in the technology and industrial sectors, with particular emphasis on innovation, digital infrastructure, and joint investment opportunities. The prime minister’s itinerary highlights Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation in areas that can contribute to sustainable economic growth and technological advancement.
A significant portion of the visit is dedicated to attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meetings, which will provide Pakistan a platform to engage with regional leaders and discuss pressing security, trade, and geopolitical issues. Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif will witness the Victory Day parade, reflecting the historical and diplomatic significance of his visit.
As part of his engagements in Beijing, Shehbaz Sharif will chair the second edition of the Pakistan-China Business-to-Business (B2B) Investment Conference.
The conference aims to review the outcomes of the first edition, held in Shenzhen in June 2024, and formulate plans for future investment and trade initiatives. The B2B session will bring together business leaders, policymakers, and industry experts from both countries to identify new opportunities, foster partnerships, and strengthen economic collaboration.
Through these meetings and engagements, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif seeks to reinforce Pakistan-China ties across multiple dimensions, including political, economic, and technological sectors, while promoting regional stability and mutually beneficial cooperation.
