ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took a proactive stance in addressing the multifaceted challenges confronting Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) by instituting a committee.
In a meeting with Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Gulbar Khan in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif unveiled plans for the establishment of the committee, tasked with formulating comprehensive strategies to tackle the diverse array of issues prevalent in the region. He stressed the importance of conducting thorough consultations to ensure that the recommendations put forth address the needs and concerns of GB effectively.
Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underscored the imperative of enhancing educational opportunities in GB by directing the construction of Danish schools across all three divisions of the region. These educational institutions, tailored to cater to children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, are envisioned to elevate educational standards and provide accommodation facilities to foster a conducive learning environment.
Demonstrating the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the people of GB, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated the priority placed on ensuring access to essential services such as healthcare and education.
In addition to addressing educational needs, the Prime Minister issued directives to expedite the completion of vital infrastructure projects, including the Attabad and Harpo hydropower projects. The successful completion of these projects is anticipated to bolster the region’s energy sector, thereby ensuring uninterrupted power supply and facilitating economic growth in GB.
Furthermore, discussions during the meeting centered on the recent completion of the Naltar Expressway, hailed as a significant milestone poised to catalyze overall development and prosperity in the region.
Lastly, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the pivotal role of tourism and renewable energy projects in GB’s development trajectory, urging the formulation of a comprehensive action plan to fast-track their implementation. These initiatives aim to harness the rich natural resources of the region and promote sustainable development in Gilgit-Baltistan.
