ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Egypt on Wednesday for a three-day official visit to participate in the 11th Developing Countries (D-8) Summit in Cairo.
The summit, themed “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs – Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy,” will focus on empowering youth and fostering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to build a sustainable and inclusive future.
Pakistan’s Agenda at the Summit
According to a press release from the PM Office, the prime minister will emphasize the critical role of youth and SMEs in driving economic growth, creating jobs, fostering innovation, and promoting local entrepreneurship. He will also reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the core principles of the D-8, advocating for partnerships that yield mutual benefits in areas such as agriculture, food security, and tourism.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will outline Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at empowering young people and enhancing their economic prospects. He is expected to highlight the government’s policies that promote youth engagement and entrepreneurship, ensuring inclusive economic development.
Addressing Regional and Global Issues
The prime minister will also attend a Special Session of the D-8 Summit focused on the humanitarian crisis and reconstruction challenges in the Middle East. During this session, he will underscore Pakistan’s principled stance on these pressing issues and advocate for collaborative solutions.
Bilateral Meetings
In addition to participating in the summit, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold bilateral discussions with leaders of various countries attending the event, further strengthening Pakistan’s ties with D-8 member nations.
Delegation Accompanying the Prime Minister
The prime minister is joined by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
This visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to fostering global partnerships and addressing key issues for the collective prosperity of the D-8 member states.
