ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed on Thursday that Pakistan would not compromise on its national security or sovereignty amid rising tensions with India.
The two leaders held a key meeting in Islamabad to review the situation following the recent attack in Pahalgam.
According to an official communiqué, they discussed the evolving regional security landscape and expressed deep concern over India’s hostile rhetoric and baseless allegations against Pakistan.
President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz condemned India’s unverified accusations, which they noted were made without any credible investigation. They also denounced ongoing Indian atrocities and provocative statements, emphasizing that Pakistan remains fully committed to defending its territorial integrity and national interests.
Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday visited the Tilla Field Firing Ranges to observe Exercise Hammer Strike, a high-intensity field training operation conducted by the Pakistan Army’s elite Mangla Strike Corps.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was welcomed at the site by the Commander of Mangla Corps. The large-scale exercise was designed to evaluate the combat readiness, battlefield coordination, and operational integration of advanced weapon systems in conditions simulating real-time conflict.
The drill showcased a comprehensive display of capabilities, including multi-role fighter aircraft, combat aviation assets, long-range precision artillery, and modern field engineering techniques.
Troops from across all arms and services executed synchronized offensive manoeuvres, demonstrating exceptional agility, tactical cohesion, and situational awareness—underscoring a high standard of training and operational professionalism.
