ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a joint session of parliament for Tuesday at 11 am under Article 54(1). The National Assembly Secretariat confirmed the development in an official notification issued on Monday.
The session will take place under the chairmanship of National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. Lawmakers will review and approve key legislation requiring final endorsement. Officials said the agenda includes bills earlier passed by one house and legislative items whose tenure has expired.
According to parliamentary sources, the joint sitting will examine several important laws to ensure their formal passage. They added that the process aims to maintain legislative continuity and address pending parliamentary business.
The session is expected to focus on strengthening the legislative framework and clearing accumulated work from both houses. Sources said the government wants timely approval of these laws to avoid procedural gaps and administrative delays.
