In order to spread awareness about breast cancer, President Dr. Arif Alvi has addressed letters to the Prime Minister, Ministers, Parliamentarians, Governors, and the media.
In his letters, the President urged them to join this year’s breast cancer awareness campaign, which would place a special emphasis on women from underprivileged backgrounds and those who live in areas affected by the severe floods.

President Dr. Arif Alvi expressed his concern that, of the 100,000 new cases of breast cancer that are reported in Pakistan every year, half of them died from the disease because of a late diagnosis. He claimed that by encouraging women to self-examine and seek early diagnosis, 98 percent of these precious lives may be saved.
The President stated that this year’s awareness campaign would emphasise the significance of addressing the nutritional requirements of women from disadvantaged socioeconomic groups and flood-affected areas.
