ISLAMABAD: President Biden, in his address to the American people, connected the conflicts in Ukraine and Israel. He called on Congress to take action and pass an aid package supporting both nations.
The speech was delivered while Gazans were still awaiting aid from the Egypt Rafah crossing, and with no sign of a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, despite international calls for an immediate truce to provide relief supplies to the people of Gaza.

President Biden stated, “I know these conflicts can seem far away, and it’s natural to ask, ‘Why does this matter to America?’ So let me explain why ensuring the success of Israel and Ukraine is crucial for America’s national security.” He emphasized that history has shown that when terrorists and dictators face no consequences for their actions, it leads to more chaos, death, and destruction.
He also mentioned the risk of Putin expanding his ambitions beyond Ukraine and potentially threatening other regions. Biden expressed concern about Iran’s support for Russia in Ukraine and for Hamas and other terrorists in the Middle East. He highlighted ongoing efforts by the US and its regional partners to create a more stable and connected Middle East.

China’s Middle East envoy, Zhai Jun, is committed to cooperating with Russia to ease tensions in the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Both countries share a unified stance on the Palestinian issue. Zhai Jun emphasized that the conflict’s root cause is the unfulfilled national rights of the Palestinian people and expressed China’s willingness to play a constructive role in reviving peace talks and realizing the two-state solution.
Zhai Jun has also met with Arab League representatives and Israel’s ambassador to China, stressing that China has no self-serving interests in the Palestinian matter.
Russia affirmed its close coordination with China in addressing the Israel conflict and other crises in the Middle East and North Africa.
