The Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has granted bail to Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, sisters of PTI founder Imran Khan, after their detention earlier this month. Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain approved the bail applications, setting the bail amount at Rs20,000 for each sister.
The two had been in custody since October 4 in connection with a case filed at the Kohsar police station. Despite objections from Prosecutor Raja Naveed, the court ruled in favor of their bail, issuing an order for their immediate release.
Why and When They were arrested
The Islamabad Police arrested former Pakistan Prime Minister and jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sisters — Aleema Khan and Uzma Khanum from D Chowk in the city for “exercising their right of peaceful protest”.
Aleema and Uzma were arrested after they arrived at the D Chowk following a protest call given by Imran Khan, a 71-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician, who has been incarcerated at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail for more than a year.
