Sher Afzal Marwat, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmaker recently expelled from the party, has announced plans to speak with national media on Thursday (today) about his departure.
In a post on X, Marwat expressed his deep sadness over the decision, stating, “I have always remained loyal to PTI and Imran Khan, and I continue to uphold my principles. It saddens me that this decision appears to be influenced by individuals who have never truly accepted me within the party.”
Marwat emphasized that his allegiance has always been to Imran Khan’s vision rather than any internal faction within PTI. He added, “I refuse to engage in personal conflicts. My loyalty has always been to the party’s ideals, not the politics of division.”
The PTI’s Additional Secretary General, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, issued the expulsion notice, reportedly under the guidance of party founder Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated. The expulsion came after several party leaders raised concerns about Marwat’s conduct during a recent political rally in Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Marwat, known for his candid and outspoken nature, has previously clashed with party figures, including Salman Akram Raja. However, PTI leadership has dismissed these conflicts as mere “differences of opinion.”
The lawmaker had earlier been issued a show-cause notice after his public remarks against Raja during a live TV discussion. He defended himself, claiming that he stood by PTI when many other leaders went into hiding during the party’s crackdown.
Marwat acknowledged the challenges faced by Imran Khan, citing limited access to information and the influence of individuals who may not act in the party’s best interest. Despite his expulsion, he assured his supporters, “I will address my position on national media tonight, and I trust that PTI workers who have fought for justice alongside me will continue to stand for what is right.”
He concluded by reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the truth, stating, “If this decision is not reconsidered, I will accept it with dignity, but I urge all PTI leaders and workers who stood together during the most difficult times to speak out against injustice.”
