Party spokesperson Rauf Hasan announced that a decision regarding the controversial social media post on former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s X account would be made after consulting the PTI’s legal committee.
Hasan clarified that, to his knowledge, Khan hadn’t seen the final version of the post. He cited a prevailing sentiment within the party that the PTI hadn’t received fair treatment and didn’t expect to.
Hasan highlighted social media as a vital platform for the party, expressing concerns that those seeking to meet the PTI founder weren’t allowed to bring pen or paper, hinting at limited access.
He revealed Khan’s desire to promote the Hamoodur Rahman Commission Report to educate people about past mistakes and prevent their repetition. However, he acknowledged that the recent controversial post might have been an interpretation by its creators.
Regarding Khan’s approval of the video with the uploaded caption, Hasan deferred judgment until a meeting with Khan on Thursday, stating that the core committee had accepted responsibility.
He disclosed differing opinions within the core committee, with a prevailing view against the post. The contentious portion had been referred to the legal committee for evaluation on whether deletion was warranted.
Hasan personally advocated for a prompt deletion. When asked about social media’s dominance in the party, Hasan emphasized its importance but avoided labeling it as dominant, acknowledging its positive impact on PTI.
He admitted instances where party leaders forgot Khan’s directives, necessitating collective discussions to clarify. Despite efforts, miscommunication remained a challenge. Regarding journalist Mehdi Hasan’s interview with Khan, Hasan stated it was conducted purely from memory.
