ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan today disqualified Umar Amin Gandapur, PTI’s candidate for mayor’s seat in Dera City, D.I. Khan, for the second phase of local government elections.
Umar Gandapur is brother of Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI candidate for Dera city mayor slot.
The Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified him for violating of code of conduct.
The ECP’s bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja announced the decision today (Feb 7, 2022).

The Commission also imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on the federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur for violation of election code of conduct and restrained him from addressing public rallies during the election campaign for the second phase of local bodies election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The ECP gave the decision saying the minister can visit the Dera City but cannot participate in any political activity.
Meanwhile, the ECP also served a notice on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s brother Zia-ur-Rehman on Friday for flouting election code of conduct. Rehman, a government official, was served the notice for his participation in the election campaign.

The Election Commission of Pakistan has restrained the district administration from allowing Maulana Fazlur Rehman, JUI-F chief to address a public gathering on February 5 and 7.
