NA-15
MANSEHRA: In a strategic move following the rejection of Senator Azam Khan Swati’s nomination papers, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced Shahzada Gustasap Khan, former opposition leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, as its candidate for the NA-15 constituency against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in the upcoming general elections on February 8.
The decision was revealed during a ticket distribution ceremony held in Mansehra district, attended by PTI ticket holders and enthusiastic party workers from across the district. PTI Mansehra President, Sardar Khan, highlighted the challenges faced by the party in the upcoming elections but expressed confidence that PTI would secure victories at both the national and provincial levels.
Despite the rejection of Azam Khan Swati’s papers, the PTI parliamentary board swiftly decided to pitch Shahzada Gustasap Khan against Nawaz Sharif, emphasizing the party’s commitment to putting forward strong contenders in key constituencies.
Sardar Khan, while distributing tickets for two National Assembly and five provincial assembly seats in the district, underscored the overwhelming response received from candidates in Mansehra and other Hazara division districts. Imran Saleem Swati was announced as the party’s candidate for NA-14, Mansehra-I.
The ceremony was marked by spirited support for PTI’s founding chairman, Imran Khan, with activists chanting slogans and expressing confidence in the party’s ability to overcome challenges and form governments at the central and provincial levels.
The distribution of tickets also included nominations for various provincial assembly seats: Munir Hussain Lughmani for PK-36 Mansehra-I, Babar Saleem Swati in PK-37, Zahid Chanzeb for PK-38, Akram Ghazi for PK-39, and Abdul Shakoor Lughmani for PK-40.
