PTI Seeks Permission for Public Gatherings in Punjab Ahead of General Elections

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has sought permission for public gatherings in Punjab following the announcement of general elections in the country. PTI has submitted requests to the deputy commissioners of Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura to obtain approval for public gatherings.

PTI plans to hold political events in Gujranwala on November 10, Sialkot on November 17, and Sheikhupura on November 19.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) recently issued a notification for elections to be held on February 8, after reaching a consensus with President Arif Alvi. The ECP consulted with the president as ordered by the Supreme Court to finalize the election date, which cannot be changed or delayed.

Dr. Faisal Sultan, the personal physician of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, stated that there is no clear evidence of slow poisoning during Khan’s custody. Dr. Sultan made these remarks during a conversation with journalists outside Adiala jail, where he had a meeting with Imran Khan on Thursday.

Khan’s personal physician, Dr. Sultan emphasized that Imran Khan was not under the influence of poison, nor had he been administered any. He found Khan to be “fit” during their meeting and stated that the former prime minister was “hale and hearty.”

In a separate development, Imran Khan provided a statement to the joint investigation team (JIT) on Thursday, denying his involvement in the violent riots that occurred on May 9. He claimed that he was in jail when the incident took place, and this statement was recorded in the presence of his lawyers.

The JIT, led by SSP (Operations) Rawalpindi Faisal Saleem, included other law enforcement officials. During the 45-minute session, Imran Khan refuted allegations of his involvement in the violence and responded to questions while evading tricky and confusing queries.
