PTI Plans Protest on September 13 Over ‘Unlawful’ Arrests of Party Lawmakers

Arrests of Party Lawmakers

PTI leader Salman Akram Raja has vehemently criticized the Islamabad police for their recent actions involving the arrest of party Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) from within Parliament.

Speaking at a press conference held in Peshawar on Tuesday, Raja condemned the police’s conduct as a severe overreach and a blatant violation of democratic norms.

Raja’s remarks came in the wake of a controversial operation where Islamabad police forcibly removed several PTI MNAs from Parliament and subsequently detained them.

The PTI leader accused the police of undermining the sanctity of the legislative body and engaging in what he described as a politically motivated crackdown against party members.

He denounced the police’s actions as a direct assault on parliamentary democracy, suggesting that such measures reflect a disturbing trend of suppressing political dissent and stifling opposition voices.

Raja argued that the arrests were not only unlawful but also designed to intimidate and coerce PTI members into submission.

The PTI leader emphasized that these actions were indicative of a broader pattern of political repression and called for immediate action to address what he termed as an abuse of power.

He urged the relevant authorities to ensure that such incidents are thoroughly investigated and that justice is served to prevent further erosion of democratic principles.

Raja’s press conference highlighted the escalating tensions between the PTI and the authorities, as the party continues to grapple with legal and political challenges.

His statements reflect the party’s growing frustration and determination to challenge what they perceive as unjust actions against their members.
