LAHORE: In Lahore, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter Sanam Javed has been placed in jail for a two-day judicial remand after her alleged connection to the Zaman Park case.
Following arguments from both sides, the court decided to send PTI activist Sanam Javed to jail for a two-day judicial custody.
Magistrate Shabbir Ahmed instructed authorities to present Saman Javed, who faced her fifth arrest after the May 9 incident, before the relevant Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) once the remand period concludes.
It’s worth noting that Sanam Javed was re-arrested shortly after being released from Kot Lakhpat Jail, for her involvement in the Zaman Park case in Lahore.
The First Information Report (FIR) against her alleges involvement in an attack on a police party.
The events on May 9 witnessed violent clashes across Pakistan following the arrest of former Prime Minister and PTI chief Imran Khan at the Islamabad High Court. Protests erupted in various cities, with party workers expressing agitation over their leader’s arrest.
Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad saw demonstrations, prompting calls for the armed forces to maintain law and order.
During a PTI protest, Army installations and the Corps Commander’s House in Lahore were targeted on May 8.
