KARACHI: On Saturday, Najeeb Haroon, a founding member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) representing Karachi, officially declared his affiliation with MQM-Pakistan.
The decision by former MNA Najeeb Haroon to join MQM-Pakistan transpired following a meeting with key party figures, including convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Farooq Sattar, and Mustafa Kamal.
MQM-Pakistan’s senior leader, Faisal Sabzwari, also disseminated this noteworthy development through his official X handle.

In a preceding event on Friday, leaders from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), namely Raza Haroon and Anees Advocate, opted to align themselves with the Pakistan Peopleโs Party (PPP) ahead of the imminent general elections scheduled for February 8.
This pivotal shift materialized after a meeting between the duo and the former president and PPPโs co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, in Karachi. The PPP, in an official statement, conveyed Asif Zardari’s warm reception of Raza Haroon and Anees Advocate, both of whom were previously associated with MQMโs Rabita Committee.
During their discussions, the politicians delved into the intricacies of the ‘Charter of Karachi,’ emphasizing matters about development, the establishment of peace and security, and the cultivation of a friendly atmosphere in the port city.
PPP Names Candidates For 2024 General Elections In Sindh And Balochistan
In another development, the Pakistan Peopleโs Party (PPP) disclosed its chosen candidates for the upcoming February 8 general elections in Sindh and Balochistan, for both national and provincial assembly seats. PPP Political Secretary Jameel Soomro released a list featuring 65 candidates for the National Assembly and 162 for provincial assembly seats in the two provinces.
Prominent figures such as PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari are slated to lead the partyโs representation in the national assembly seats within Sindh.
Notable candidates for national assembly seats from Sindh include Khursheed Shah, Ejaz Jakhrani, Nafeesa Shah, Shazia Marri, Naveed Qamar Rasul Bakhsh Chandio, Nabil Gabol, and Abdul Qadir Patel.
Moreover, the PPP is geared up to contest all 119 seats in the Sindh Assembly, with leaders like Murad Ali Shah, Nasir Hussain Shah, and Saeed Ghani participating in the electoral process.
