ISLAMABAD: Former information minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that former prime minister Imran Khan will not tender an apology to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a contempt of court case for threatening judge Zeba Chaudhry.
Fawad also stated that it was “really sad” that a full bench was going to hear this case.
Earlier, a larger bench of the Islamabad High Court issued a show-cause notice to Imran Khan after taking up contempt of court proceedings against PTI chief for threatening Additional Sessions Judge Zeba Chaudhry during a public rally.
The IHC has summoned Imran Khan on August 31, and recommended the case to the Chief Justice seeking the inclusion of more judges on the bench.
Talking to a private TV channel talk show, former PTI minister Fawad Chaudhry said that PTI leader Shahbaz Gill was tortured and the IHC directed the IG Police of Islamabad to hold an inquiry.
He wondered whether it was a joke that the IHC sought an inquiry though the medical board confirmed custodial torture on Gill.
PTI chief of staff Shehbaz Gill has been sent on judicial remand till Sept 7 in cases related to sedition and arms recovery. The PTI leader was taken into custody on August 9 and his remand has been extended thrice.
