PTI Candidate
LAHORE: In a strategic political move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate from PP-146, Saddam Athar, has officially withdrawn from the race in support of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) President Abdul Aleem Khan. Athar made the announcement at the IPP office, where he expressed his confidence in Abdul Aleem Khan’s leadership and presented his support by joining the IPP. This development showcases a significant shift in alliances ahead of the general elections.
Abdul Aleem Khan has been actively consolidating support, not only securing backing from PTI’s Saddam Athar but also gaining the endorsement of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for NA-117. This collaborative approach marks a notable political realignment, setting the stage for a more dynamic electoral landscape.
Saddam Athar, while emphasizing Abdul Aleem Khan’s constructive thinking, praised the leadership of Patron-in-Chief Jahangir Khan Tareen and President Abdul Aleem Khan. The PTI aspirant’s decision to switch allegiances underscores the changing dynamics within political circles.
Moreover, Mian Junaid Zulfikar from PP-145 also met with Abdul Aleem Khan, indicating a growing trend of political figures aligning with the IPP. This series of developments points towards a potential coalition-building strategy employed by Abdul Aleem Khan to bolster his position in the upcoming elections.
In another significant move, PML-N has decided to withdraw its candidate in favor of Abdul Aleem Khan for the general election in 2024. The decision is part of a strategic seat adjustment with the IPP, further solidifying the IPP president’s candidacy in NA-117. Notably, Abdul Aleem Khan has opted to withdraw from NA-119, refraining from contesting against PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz.
These political maneuvers highlight the complex interplay of alliances and alignments as key players position themselves strategically for the upcoming elections, adding intrigue to the unfolding electoral landscape.
