Economic Revival
In a telephonic conversation on Monday, Pakistan’s political heavyweights Asif Ali Zardari and Nawaz Sharif agreed to make “important decisions” to address economic issues. Aaj News sources reported that the PPP co-chairman congratulated the PML-N supremo on his return to Pakistan after a self-imposed exile lasting four years.
This development follows Nawaz’s announcement that he would commence meetings with political leaders in the country in preparation for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2024.
Many political experts have welcomed this initiative, emphasizing the need for political stability before the elections. Both leaders expressed their commitment to contribute to the country’s well-being.
They also reached a consensus on making “important decisions” to alleviate economic hardships faced by the people and extended invitations to meet in person. Earlier in the day, the former prime minister initiated his political activities by visiting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz secretariat in Model Town after a four-year hiatus.
Accompanied by his daughter, Maryam Nawaz, the party’s chief organizer, a party ticket holder, Imran Javed, performed a ‘sadqa’ by sacrificing a goat.
In a video shared by the PML-N, Nawaz highlighted the party’s focus on the economy, stating that everything was encompassed within it if given another opportunity.
He stated, “Our greatest satisfaction would be serving the common people,” emphasizing that it has been the party’s “strength” in the past three terms.
Furthermore, Zardari expressed his hope that Bilawal’s victory message would herald the rise of the sun on February 8.
Meanwhile, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif initiated a telephone conversation with MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and extended an invitation for a meeting with party leader Nawaz.
A party statement indicated that the two discussed the political landscape and upcoming general elections. It also mentioned that an MQM-P delegation, led by Siddiqui and including Mustafa Kamal and Farooq Sattar, is scheduled to meet Nawaz on Tuesday.
