Omar Ayub Surrounded by PTI Workers Demanding Agitation After Iddat Verdict

Iddat Verdict

A heated confrontation erupted outside the District Court in Islamabad as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers expressed their outrage following the rejection of appeals against the sentences of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the unlawful marriage case, commonly referred to as the iddat case.

The court’s decision sparked a strong reaction among PTI supporters, who gathered in significant numbers to voice their dissatisfaction.

As PTI leaders, including Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan and Senator Faisal Javed Khan, emerged from the court, they were immediately surrounded by an agitated crowd of party workers.

The leaders appeared visibly distressed and concerned by the intensity of the response.

Among the leaders present was Senator Azam Swati, who quickly distanced himself from the group and joined the protestors on the road, where he led chants and slogans against the court’s decision.

The protestors’ frustration was palpable, and they directed their anger towards the PTI leadership, accusing them of cowardice and inaction.

Omar Ayub attempted to address the crowd by announcing that the decision would be challenged in the High Court. However, this did little to pacify the workers, many of whom had traveled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Their agitation only grew as they demanded immediate action, insisting on a sit-in rather than dispersing quietly.

The situation escalated as the workers pressed Omar Ayub for a call to protest, questioning why the leadership was hesitant to organize demonstrations.

The crowd became increasingly unruly, with some individuals engaging in pushing and shoving. The tension reached a boiling point when the workers threatened the leadership, warning that they would not tolerate any harm coming to Imran Khan.

In the midst of the chaos, Omar Ayub managed to extricate himself from the crowd by boarding his official vehicle. Despite his efforts to address their concerns, the protestors remained adamant in their demands.

They insisted that a protest be organized to secure the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, expressing their willingness to continue their agitation until their demands were met.

The confrontation highlighted the deep frustration and anger within the PTI ranks, as supporters felt betrayed by what they perceived as the leadership’s reluctance to take a stronger stand.

The incident underscored the challenges facing the PTI leadership in managing the expectations and emotions of their supporters during a period of legal and political turmoil.

The protestors’ unwavering demand for a protest reflects their desperation and determination to see their leaders freed. This incident is likely to add further pressure on the PTI leadership to adopt a more confrontational approach in their political strategy moving forward.
