PML-N Gathering
ISLAMABAD: After spending four years in exile, PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif is ready to chair a formal party meeting in Lahore. The purpose is to assess the current political landscape and devise a strategy for the upcoming general elections.
The meeting’s announcement came one day after the PTI decided to engage with like-minded parties, especially the PPP, to ensure fair and transparent elections in January.
Mr. Sharif, who returned from London this month after a four-year self-imposed medical exile, is expected to oversee the allocation of PML-N tickets to National Assembly and provincial assembly hopefuls for the forthcoming polls.
According to an insider, the gathering will also evaluate potential electoral alliances with other political parties and address the challenge posed by political parties forming a joint front against the PML-N.
Additionally, the insider noted, “Nawaz Sharif will also solicit input from senior PML-N leaders on strategies to enhance the party’s election prospects, particularly in Punjab, and secure a maximum number of seats.”
Nawaz Sharif’s Murree Sojourn
Ahead of his court hearing in Islamabad today, Nawaz Sharif spent his Sunday in Murree. It marked his second trip to the hill station since his arrival in the country on October 21.
Following the hearing in the federal capital, Mr. Sharif is expected to return to Lahore, where he will preside over the first formal meeting of the PML-N in four years.
While there were speculations that Mr. Sharif might meet disgruntled party leaders in Murree during his stay, a PML-N leader denied these reports, stating that the former prime minister did not meet anyone during his brief stay. Overall, Nawaz Sharif, PML-N supreme leader, prepares to lead PML-N gatherings in Lahore to strategize for upcoming general elections.
