Nawaz Sharif allowed to travel to Pakistan: khawaja asif

This development comes a couple of days after President Arif Alvi announced the date (April 9) of elections for Punjab and KP assemblies.

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that the doctors have allowed Nawaz Sharif to travel back to Pakistan.

He said that Nawaz Sharif would return soon and chair a meeting of the PML-N board to shortlist candidates for general elections.

Khawaja Asif, however, gave no date for the return of Nawaz Sharif. Defence Minister stated this in a TV programme on Geo late Tuesday night.

This development comes a couple of days after President Arif Alvi announced the date (April 9) of elections for Punjab and KP assemblies.

Defence Minister said that national politics needs PML-N supremo and three times elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Since November 2019, Nawaz Sharif has been living in London on the pretext of medical treatment.

Khawaja Asif also said that PML-N and PPP should contest the general elections in the country from the platform of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). It is a coalition of nine political parties.

To another query, Khawaja Asif blamed the former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa for manipulating elections in 2018.

Meanwhile, ML-N chief organizer and senior vice president Maryam blamed the previous PTI government for the ongoing economic crisis.

She vowed that her party’s leadership will lead the nation out of the current difficulties.

She made these remarks while presiding over the Rawalpindi Division’s organizational meeting.

Moreover, other senior leaders including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Pervaiz Rasheed, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Senator Dr. Afnanullah, and Talal Chaudhry were also present at the meeting. Additionally, Tahira Aurangzeb, Sheikh Aftab, Malik Abrar, Hanif Abbasi, and others attended the meeting.

Maryam Nawaz asserted at the gathering that the country’s high inflation was not the fault of the current government.

She added that the public was aware that the prior government of former premier Imran Khan was to blame for both the economic downturn and the inflation.
