NA committee sets aside IHC’s order, summons again Najam Saqib in audio leak case

ISLAMABAD: The special committee of the National Assembly set aside the order of the Islamabad High Court and once again summoned Najam Saqib, son of former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar and others in audio leaks case.

MNA Aslam Bhootani, chairman of the special committee, chaired the meeting and decided to summon again Najam Saqib for probe.

The committee also decided to obtain the bank account details of Najam Saqib and others.

Last month, Speaker of the National Assembly constituted the special committee to probe the leaked audios involving Najam Saqib and others.

The committee also decided to issue arrest warrants for Najam Saqib in case he did not appear before the committee.

Islamabad High Court suspends notices to Saqib Nisar, Najam Saqib

A couple of days ago, the Islamabad High Court suspended NA committee’s notice issued to Saqib Nisar, former CJP and his son Najam Saqib.

IHC Judge Justice Babar Sattar suspended the notices saying the committee did not have authority to summon common people for probe.

The IHC Judge took the action on the petition of Najam Saqib who challenged the committee’s authority to summon him.

However, the committee has decided to proceed further against the son of the former chief justice and others to find out audio leaks details.
