ISLAMABAD: Mother of former PTI leader Usman Dar vowed to contest the upcoming general elections in Sialkot at any cost after the local police raided her residence.
The home of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Usman Dar’s mother was reportedly raided by the Sialkot police, violating the sanctity and security of the premises and showing disrespect to the women present there.
In a video shared on social media, Usman Dar’s mother accused the police of conducting the raid allegedly on the orders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Khawaja Asif. She claimed that the police raiding party subjected them to humiliation.
According to Usman Dar’s mother, Khawaja Asif orchestrated these actions to deter her from contesting the general elections against him. PML-N leader Khawaja Asif, nonetheless, denied the allegations of mother of Usman Dar.
She made an appeal to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa to intervene and address the situation.
It’s worth noting that following the May 9 vandalism incident, there was a crackdown on PTI workers, and the Dar brothers’ house in Sialkot was also raided, with reports emerging about mistreatment of women during these incidents.
After facing criticism, the then-defence minister, Khawaja Asif, issued an apology for the reported mistreatment of women during the raids conducted against PTI leaders following the violent protests.
