Marriyum Aurangzeb Insists on Punishment if Rawalpindi Commissioner Fails to Substantiate Allegations

ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb addressed a press conference in Islamabad, stating that the Rawalpindi commissioner should face justice if he fails to substantiate his allegations.

Marriyum strongly asserted her ability to disprove the accusations leveled by the Rawalpindi commissioner, emphasizing the importance of providing evidence before making objections to the elections.

In the press conference, Marriyum questioned the potential consequences of derailing democracy, urging a careful consideration of the country’s future. She stressed the need for concrete evidence before raising any objections to the electoral process, emphasizing the potential repercussions for the nation if baseless claims lead to instability.

Marriyum also called for the inclusion of the Rawalpindi commissioner’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) and raised concerns about the presentation of fake Form 45 before the international media.

The developments stem from the resignation of Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta earlier in the day. Chatta admitted to pressuring returning officers to manipulate results for at least 13 MNA candidates in the Rawalpindi Division. His dramatic self-surrender to the police for election rigging and his assertion that he deserved capital punishment have intensified the scrutiny of the electoral process.

Marriyum Aurangzeb’s press conference reflects the broader concerns about transparency and accountability in the electoral system, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation and adherence to due process as the situation unfolds.
