Khawaja Asif: new evidence emerged, prompting military trial for Imran Khan

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has indicated that the evidence is strongly pointing towards a military trial for Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In an exclusive interview hosted by Shaukat Piracha, Asif suggested that Lt Gen (rtd) Faiz Hameed might become a key witness against Khan.

Asif’s comments came in the wake of a press conference by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif.

During the briefing, Gen Sharif revealed that Faiz Hameed, who previously served under Imran Khan, allegedly violated military regulations under Khan’s direction.

Gen Sharif also warned that any misuse of military personnel for personal or political purposes would lead to legal repercussions, hinting at a potential military trial for Khan.

On Rubaroo, Asif speculated that Faiz Hameed, following his arrest, could provide incriminating details about his connections with the PTI founder.

Asif suggested that Hameed might be inclined to shift the blame onto Khan to mitigate his own legal risks.
