Imran Khan Declares Resistance Will Continue Despite Imprisonment

Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed his unwavering resolve to resist what he describes as the “slavery of Yazid of time,” despite being imprisoned.

Speaking to journalists in an informal chat at Adiala Jail, Khan made it clear that he has no intention of backing down in the face of what he perceives as oppressive forces currently controlling the country.

During the discussion, Khan criticized the current leadership and governance, particularly highlighting the decline in Pakistan’s cricketing performance and the lack of accountability for influential figures such as Mohsin Naqvi.

He argued that these issues are emblematic of a larger governance failure in the country. Imran Khan accused the ruling decision-makers of transferring billions of dollars abroad, all while Pakistan is on the brink of a revolution due to the growing discontent among its people.

Reflecting on missed opportunities for change, Khan pointed out that the country had a chance to alter its course on February 8th, but the current decision-makers, whom he described as disconnected from reality, failed to capitalize on this moment.

He expressed deep concern over the escalating crisis in Balochistan, which he attributed to poor governance and the lack of local body elections. According to Khan, holding local elections is crucial for empowering local leaders, alleviating poverty, and addressing the ongoing turmoil in the region.

He also criticized the current allocation of development funds for Balochistan, suggesting that these funds are not reaching the people who need them most.

Turning his attention to the issue of terrorism, Khan questioned the effectiveness of the ongoing counter-terrorism operations that have been in place since 2004.

He pointed out that while the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been widely recognized as a significant threat, there has been comparatively less attention given to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) operating in Balochistan.

Khan called for a more comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism, one that involves not just military operations but also intelligence and dialogue to address the root causes of unrest.

Addressing concerns raised by journalists about alleged media bias, particularly accusations made by his sister Aleema Khan, Imran Khan assured that he would investigate these claims thoroughly. He emphasized the importance of media independence and fairness in the country’s political discourse.

Imran Khan’s remarks reflect his continued determination to challenge the status quo and his willingness to confront the issues that he believes are undermining Pakistan’s progress.

Despite being incarcerated, he remains vocal about his vision for the country, advocating for systemic change and more accountable governance to address the challenges facing Pakistan today.
