LAHORE: In a significant electoral outcome, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz triumphed in Lahore’s NA-118 constituency, securing a notable victory with 105,960 votes. Unofficial results from all polling stations revealed his success over PTI-backed independent candidate Aliya Hamza, who garnered 100,803 votes.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif also secured both national and provincial assembly seats in Lahore, based on unofficial results. For the NA-123 seat, Shehbaz Sharif secured 63,953 votes, surpassing PTI-backed independent candidate Afzal Azeem with 48,486 votes.
Furthermore, in Lahore’s PP-158 constituency, Shehbaz Sharif clinched victory with 38,642 votes, while independent candidate Yousuf Ali secured the second position with 23,847 votes. PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz secured Lahore’s PP-189 seat with 23,598 votes.
The daylong polling process for the General Election 2024 concluded peacefully, witnessing active participation from voters across all age groups. The polling, which took place for 265 seats of the National Assembly and 590 seats of provincial assemblies, saw over 128 million registered voters exercising their democratic right.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reported that the polling occurred in 855 constituencies out of 859, with exceptions for NA 8, PP 266, PK 22, and PK 91 due to the death of a candidate.
The nationwide voting process ran from 8 am to 5 pm, allowing citizens maximum time to cast their votes. The final results solidify the political landscape, reflecting the choices made by the electorate in shaping the composition of national and provincial assemblies.
