Former PTI MNA Claims Bajaur Police Abducted His Son; Police Deny Allegations

BAJAUR: A former lawmaker from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accused Bajaur police of conducting a raid on his residence, alleging that they took away his nine-year-old son, who has special needs.

Gul Zafar Khan, the former PTI MNA, made the claim on social media, stating that the incident occurred in his absence in the Gat Kai area of Mamond tehsil. The news gained traction on social media as other PTI leaders and workers shared it.

While Bajaur police confirmed the raid on Gul Zafar Khan’s house, they denied arresting his son. In an official statement from the district police officer’s office, it was acknowledged that the raid was carried out due to Khan’s violation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. However, they clarified that no one was arrested during the raid since the former MNA was not present at home.

The police statement also mentioned that Gul Zafar Khan is wanted in connection with a case registered in the Upper Dir district a few days prior. Additionally, an FIR was filed against a PTI meeting attended by Khan at the residence of former provincial minister Anwerzeb Khan. Several party leaders have been charged in relation to this case.

In a separate development, police reportedly arrested PTI’s former MNA Gul Dad Khan on Wednesday for violating Section 144 of the CrPC, according to sources from both the police and the party.

Petitions Urging Election Postponement Over Security and Snowfall Reach ECP

Meanwhile, amid ongoing speculations aiming to cast doubts on the scheduled general polls on February 8, two separate petitions urging the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the elections were presented. These appeals, originating from individuals in Balochistan, cited security concerns and snowfall in various districts as grounds for the requested delay.

An ECP spokesperson countered these claims, asserting that the updated electoral rolls for the upcoming general elections were already in the process of printing at Nadra offices. Additionally, the distribution of these lists to different districts has commenced.
