Dar Announces Formation of Special Committee to Uphold Parliamentary Authority

Deputy Prime Minister Emphasizes Role in Legislation and Commends Military Leadership

On Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar announced the formation of a special committee dedicated to reinforcing parliamentary authority. Dar emphasized the committee’s role in ensuring that legislative processes are respected and not influenced by external pressures.

Dar stated, “It is our responsibility to carry out legislation. There is no need for unnecessary disputes; instead, we should focus on upholding the principles of politics.”

He highlighted the historical context, noting, “The Charter of Democracy was agreed upon back in 2006 between Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto. The importance of having Senate representation in this committee cannot be overstated.”

In a separate development, Dar praised the professionalism and integrity of Pakistan’s military leadership. Speaking to Samaa TV, Dar addressed his ongoing legal challenges, including tax evasion allegations. He clarified, “My name appeared in the Panama Papers due to issues with tax returns, but I have always submitted them on time.”

Dar also detailed the legal complexities surrounding his case, including the issuance and eventual cancellation of red warrants by Interpol after presenting evidence.

He expressed respect for the military leadership, describing them as “professional, honest, and dedicated to the country’s welfare.”
