NEW YORK: Chairperson Pakistan People Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari reached New York on Monday (July 12) for a seven-day trip to the United States. Bilawal has termed his visit private, but the trip has sparked political debate and tension in Pakistan. PPP and government ministers and PTI leaders are also doing a blame-game on this visit.

The PPP leader is on a seven-day ‘private’ tour of the US. Ever since PPP announced the visit, the government has criticised Bhutto, with PM Imran Khan’s aide Dr Shahbaz Gill going so far as to say that Bhutto was seeking a deal from the US.

However, PPP-US President Khalid Awan explained that Bilawal Bhutto will not be travelling to Washington during his visit. After landing in New York, the PPP chairperson refused to speak to the media, saying he is on a personal visit to the US. He, however, stated that he would love to talk to media during his September 2021 visit.
