Ban on Meetings in Adiala Jail Extended for Two More Days

A delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) planned to meet with party chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on Saturday, but the ban on meetings has been extended by two days.

PTI Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram reported that the jail authorities have denied permission for Salman Akram Raja to visit. However, he confirmed that he will meet with Imran Khan at 12:30 PM, along with Barrister Gohar, while Ali Zafar and Asad Qaisar have also received clearance for their visit.

According to Sheikh Waqas, Barrister Gohar has indicated that the entire group will refrain from entering the jail until all members are permitted to visit.

The 10-day ban on visits at Central Jail Adiala, which ended today, had raised hopes among over 8,000 prisoners and detainees that they could reconnect with their loved ones. The Punjab Home Department imposed this ban due to security concerns, which caused distress for the families of inmates. The heightened security measures were also influenced by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Islamabad. During the ban, jail officials enhanced security protocols.

Sources within the jail revealed that the ban, effective from October 8, impacted all types of visits, including those of Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, and the other prisoners.
