Anti-Terrorism Judge summons Imran Khan in terrorism case at 12 Noon

ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has summoned Imran Khan in the court in connection with his bail application in terrorism case for threatening female judge Zeba Chaudhry and top police officials of Islamabad.

Judge Raja Jawad Abbas of the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad has directed Babar Awan to ensure PTI chairman appears in the court for extension in his pre-arrest bail in terrorism case.

Babar Awan, PTI leader and lawyer of Imran Khan, submitted an application in the court for extension in pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan, but Judge Raja Jawad Abbas turned down the plea saying Imran Khan must appear in the court to get further bail.

Imran Khan was given pre-arrest bail in the case till September 1 (today). The proceedings will be conducted by ATC judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan.

Speaking outside the court premises, PTI counsel Babar Awan said that the party has submitted two written responses to the court.

“I told the court that if anything happens to my client, the government, IG, DIG Islamabad will be responsible,” he said.

“They are withdrawing security from Khan sahab, and moreover, no police from any province can be present with him here,” Awan said.

He said that he has submitted a threat letter to the court, received at Bani Gala, which stated the intention of some people to want to kill the PTI chairman.

Therefore, the PTI leaders assured the court that PTI chairman Imran Khan will appear in the court. They, nonetheless, expressed the fear that Khan was facing threats to his life and that the government and Islamabad police will be responsible for the security of the PTI chairman.

A day earlier, Imran Khan appeared in the Islamabad High Court in contempt of court case in which the IHC gave him seven days deadline to submit afresh reply in the court regarding the show-cause the court had issued to him.

IHC chief justice Athar Minallah expressed displeasure over the reply the PTI leader Imran Khan has submitted in the court in response to show-cause notice.
