MARDAN: Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Kashmir Affairs, and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engr Amir Muqam, has declared that Imran Khan’s political future is bleak, asserting that his chapter in Pakistani politics has closed.
Speaking to journalists at the residence of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) KP provincial minority-wing president Suraish Kumar, Muqam criticized Khan’s political career and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) party.
Muqam accused the current PTI provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) of unprecedented corruption. He claimed that PTI ministers were themselves exposing corruption within their ranks, and noted that PTI lawmakers were embroiled in disputes over securing commissions for public development projects.
According to Muqam, the PTI leadership and workers are preoccupied with securing the release of their chairman, Imran Khan, rather than addressing public issues.
The federal minister also lamented that Khan, who had promised to transform prime ministerial, gubernatorial, and chief ministerial residences into educational institutions, had failed to deliver on these commitments.
Instead, Muqam alleged that the PTI-led KP government is now planning to sell university lands for personal gain. He criticized the PTI for ruling KP for the past 12 years without significant improvements in public development.
In contrast, Muqam praised the current federal government under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for achieving financial stability. He highlighted that inflation has been reduced to 11 percent and the exchange rate of the dollar has stabilized.
