KARACHI: Shocking details have emerged after the recovery of four bodies from a manhole near Mai Kolachi Road in Karachi. Police Surgeon Dr Samia Syed has confirmed that all the victims showed clear signs of torture. The bodies, including those of children and teenagers, were found near a railway crossing on Friday and later shifted to Dr Ruth K M Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal examination.
The discovery has caused widespread alarm across the city. Law enforcement agencies and provincial authorities have launched a full-scale investigation. Senior officials have pledged strict action against those responsible for the brutal killings.
Post-Mortem Findings Reveal Severe Injuries
Police Surgeon Dr Samia Syed said that initial post-mortem examinations of all four bodies have been completed. She stated that the bodies appeared to be several days old. According to preliminary medical findings, there were visible injuries consistent with torture.
Dr Samia confirmed that one of the victims, a boy aged around 13 to 14 years, had injuries on his head, face, and neck. These marks strongly indicated physical abuse. Another victim, a 10-year-old boy, was found with severe neck injuries. A third victim, believed to be a 14 to 15-year-old girl, also showed signs of torture on her head, face, and neck.
She added that samples had been collected from the bodies for chemical analysis. These tests will help determine further details related to the cause of death. The final autopsy reports will be issued once laboratory results are received.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Asad Raza said police estimates suggest the bodies were between 10 and 15 days old. He said investigators are working to identify the victims and trace their movements before death.
Police Investigation Underway
Police officials said multiple teams have been formed to investigate the case. Officers are examining the crime scene and surrounding areas. CCTV footage from nearby locations is also being reviewed. Authorities are checking missing persons records to help identify the victims.
DIG Asad Raza said no theory has been ruled out at this stage. He added that police are investigating possible motives behind the killings. Officials are also working to determine how and when the bodies were placed inside the manhole.
Law enforcement sources said forensic and technical evidence will play a key role in the investigation. The case has been described as highly sensitive due to the age of the victims and the brutality involved.
Sindh Government Orders Immediate Action
The incident prompted swift action from the Sindh government. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took immediate notice of the case. He directed police and relevant authorities to investigate all aspects thoroughly. He also ordered that responsibility be fixed without delay.
The chief minister assured the public that justice would be ensured for the affected families. He stressed that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the government’s foremost duty.
