ISLAMABAD: Police have issued the initial report of the Islamabad suicide blast that killed 12 and injured several others. The blast occurred near the District Judicial Complex in G-11 Sector on Tuesday (at 12:39 noon).
The initial report revealed that the suicide bomber arrived on foot outside the Islamabad Kacheri before detonating the explosives. The attacker reportedly sat near the main gate for several minutes, observing the area before the explosion.
Security Screening Prevented Entry into Courts
According to the report, security personnel were checking individuals entering the court premises when the bomber attempted to go inside. The heightened screening stopped the attacker at the entrance, prompting him to detonate the explosives on the road outside.
At the time of the blast, between 35 to 40 people were present in the vicinity, the report added.
Vehicles Damaged, Area Secured by Police
The explosion damaged several parked cars and motorcycles, but the resulting fire was swiftly brought under control by rescue teams. Police cordoned off the area and launched an extensive investigation.
Officials confirmed that body parts believed to be of the bomber, including the head, were recovered from the site for forensic analysis.
Senior Officials Visit Blast Site
Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Inspector General of Islamabad Police and the Chief Commissioner visited the blast site. Police briefed them about the available details of the suicide blast.
