Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached Tashkent on a two-day visit, where he is set to engage in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
After concluding his visit to Azerbaijan, PM Shehbaz was received with a guard of honour upon his arrival at the Tashkent Congress Centre on Wednesday, where he met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Bilateral Meetings & Areas of Cooperation
Following the official welcome, the two leaders introduced their respective delegations before proceeding with bilateral meetings and delegation-level talks.
The discussions are expected to focus on:
- Regional connectivity
- Trade and investment
- Energy cooperation
- Defence and security
- Regional stability
- Educational collaboration
Economic & Business Initiatives
As part of the visit, PM Shehbaz will address the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum, aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment ties. Additionally, he will visit Tashkent’s Techno Park to observe the country’s construction industry.
Both sides are expected to sign multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Strengthening Pakistan-Uzbekistan Relations
Separately, Deputy PM & Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a productive meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, where they discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.
Both sides acknowledged the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, built on a shared history and mutual respect. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration across multiple sectors for mutual progress and prosperity.
